A child hand drawing red shapes on paper with a red felt tip pen. The words STAY AND PLAY are written over the top in a bold, lime green font.

At Goldsmiths CCA, parents, carers and families were invited to get creative and explore our exhibition, Flare-Up.

Flare-Up brought together UK-based and international visual artists whose work engages with the poetics and aesthetics of illness, disability, neurodivergence and Deafness. Presenting work by nineteen artists across Goldsmiths CCA, the exhibition brought together sculpture, installation, painting, film, poetry, music and performance as tools of expression and activism.

The Stay and Play began with a guided tour of the exhibition for parents and carers. Families then had a chance to take part in a fun bunting decoration workshop, inspired by Flare-Up artist Benoît Piéron, using materials such as colourful stickers, pressed flowers, crayons, fuzzy pom poms, and more. Each family decorated two sets of bunting, one to take home, and one to be donated to a local paediatrics ward.

The Galleries are wheelchair accessible. If you would like to request assistance, or discuss access, please get in touch. To share feedback, subscribe for updates, or for any questions you may have, please email our Engagement Producer, Adrianna Whittingham: a.whittingham@gold.ac.uk
