PHYSICAL ACCESS

There are portable stools located throughout the gallery.

There are two entrances to the gallery, in operation at different times.

MAIN ENTRANCE:

The main entrance is opposite the Ben Pimlott building (Ben Pimlott is the corrugated metal building with a glass front and metal spiral sculpture on the roof).

This entrance is open Wednesday—Sunday, 12—6pm.

There is both stepped and step-free access, by 8 steps or a 1:10 sloped entrance ramp. The entrance has a pull door and a disabled access push button to open.

BACK ENTRANCE:

The back entrance is mostly used to access the café at the back of the CCA building, when the main entrance is not open. It is located at the back of the gallery, accessed by walking down the left-hand side of the CCA building.

It is open Monday—Friday, 10am—4.15pm.

There is step-free access by a sloped metal entrance ramp. At the end of the ramp it has a pull door to enter.

AUDITORY ACCESS

A hearing loop system is in place at our front desk.

VISUAL ACCESS

Large print and easy English versions of the exhibition text are available in the access box next to the front desk.

The lighting throughout the gallery changes depending on the exhibition. Please talk to a member of staff for more information or contact us before your visit: goldsmithscca@gold.ac.uk (inbox monitored Monday—Friday, 10am—5pm).

SENSORY ACCESS

Earplugs and ear defenders of various sizes are available in the access box next to the front desk.

Drawing materials are available in the access box next to the front desk.

Due to the nature of contemporary art, sometimes the content of the exhibition can be distressing or inappropriate for some audiences.

Signs will be placed at the entrance of a gallery containing adult content, flashing lights, loud noises, strong scents and smoke effects. 

The gallery is quietest at the end of the day. We also offer relaxed exhibition viewings on the first Wednesday of each month, 11am—12pm. Please book a space for these sessions here, so we can ensure that there are reduced numbers in the space

Our Residents Space can be used as a quiet space if it is not in use. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to access.

ASSISTANCE ANIMALS

Working guide, hearing and assistance dogs are welcome at the gallery.

They should be appropriately trained, supervised, and kept with you at all times. Where possible, dog owners should bring their Assistance Dogs UK (ADUK) identification book and animals should wear the appropriate tabards or harness, but this is not a requirement for entry.

TOILETS AND CHANGING

An accessible toilet, 5 gender neutral single cubical toilets, and a baby change facility are located in the basement.
