Blossom Young Mums is a creative collective founded by poet Yasmin Ali (Y.A Poet) that empowers young and underrepresented mothers, prioritising places for teen mums from global majority backgrounds through writing circles, one-to-one support sessions, and performance showcases.

The collective provides a safe, inclusive space for mums to connect, build confidence, and share their voices through creativity. What began as a small support group has grown into a holistic programme, offering one-to-one family support, stay & play sessions, self-care workshops, writing sessions, and community events.

Blossom Young Mums work with local partner organisations such as Alchemy masters, COVO Space, MamaKind baby bank, and Lewisham Bank of Things to deliver sessions with creative activities, music, poetry, affirmations, healing conversations, donations, and self-care packages. 

The residency champions young mothers as artists, leaders, and storytellers—reducing isolation, breaking barriers, creating opportunities, and challenging stereotypes. We empower mothers and their children to feel supported, cared for, and celebrated, while also signposting participants to local services and providing tailored one-to-one guidance.

Over the course of the residency, Blossom Young Mums will expand workshops and provide further opportunities for connection, creativity, and expression. Mothers will create and share music, poetry, and other art alongside their children, celebrating their voices within the community. Through showcases and collaborative activities, the residency will strengthen local partnerships, continue empowering mothers, and amplify their stories, resilience, and creativity.
