Katie Shannon (b. Glasgow) is the latest artist to participate in Goldsmiths CCA’s ongoing commissioning series, Episodes. Based between Glasgow and London, Shannon works across visual art, performance, writing, and event making. Her practice considers the event as a medium in itself, shaped by long term research-driven projects which unfold within and outside gallery contexts. Drawing on sustained engagement with peripheral musical histories and voices, feminist re-readings of time and space, and fascinations with pedestrian and public forms, her work traces the temporal, socioeconomic, psychogeographical and material conditions that structure shared experience.
Recently she was a resident at Flat Time House and currently hosts a radio show with NTS. Shannon approaches her activities as a social form and oppositional gesture, anchoring her work within the politics of attention and refusal.

Shannon is also part of TLC23 an art collective initiated with Keira Fox and founded in 2021 which are currently undertaking a residency at Cafe Oto called L.I.H; she was a member of Slaghammers, a female identifying and non-binary welding collective from 2018 – 2021, collaboratively ran record label Domestic Exile from 2015 – 2023, and was a committee member and programmer of independent art space, The Pipe Factory, Glasgow, UK from 2015 – 2018.
