Embedding Contemporary Art in the Curriculum
If you’re a teacher or educator wondering how to talk about contemporary art with young learners, join Neil Walton, Subject Leader for PGCE Art & Design at Goldsmiths, Trish Scott, Engagement Curator at the CCA, artist Meera Chauda and secondary school art teacher Vicki Radcliffe for some suggestions.
At this session we will share some practical strategies for engaging young learners with contemporary art in the classroom. Meera Chauda will share tools and suggestions from ‘Crossing Borders’ a KS2 project for changemaking and collaboration rooted in Eugenio Dittborn’s artwork, currently on at Goldsmiths CCA. Vicki will share a new KS3 roadmap currently being tested in the classroom at Norbury Manor High School for Girls, which embeds a plurality of ideas and languages around art into the curriculum, as a practical response to Neil Walton’s framework of big ideas about art, introduced in CPD sessions during 2020-21.
This event is the 4th in our termly series Embedding Contemporary Art in the Curriculum. The CPD series gives practical and theoretical examples of how to engage young learners with contemporary art. The series draws on the rich artistic programme at Goldsmiths CCA whilst being an opportunity to hear from educators, teachers and artists about current practice and classroom tips.
The event on the 22nd November will take place online. Book via the ‘ticket’ link below.
