PTTV Screening Event and Talk by Amy Tobin
A special screening of two programmes that Paper Tiger Television made in the early to mid-1990s, Sisterhood™: Hyping the Female Market (1993) and Twist Barbie: Lynn Spigel Dreams of a Plastic Feminism (1994). These programmes respectively address different issues for feminism, from its corporate co-option to the possibilities of a feminist femininity. The screening will be introduced by Amy Tobin, author of Women Artists Together: Art in the Age of Women’s Liberation (Yale, 2023).
BIOGRAPHY
Amy Tobin is an academic and curator at the University of Cambridge, where she is Professor of Modern and Contemporary Art in the Department of History of Art, Curator of Contemporary Programmes at Kettle’s Yard, and fellow of Newnham College.
