This resource pack takes Mohamed Bourouissa’s exhibition HARA!!!!!!hAAARAAAAA!!!!!hHARAAA!!! as a starting point for thinking about image-making through questions of identity, storytelling, power and place. It has been developed to support visual literacy and critical reasoning skills in young learners.
In the teacher’s guide, you can find out more about Mohamed Bourouissa’s practice, and access related activities for introducing his work to students. The accompanying 90-minute lesson plan is for use in the classroom and invites students to make and photograph their own tableau vivant.
Activity plans touch on themes of collaboration, community, consent, hip hop, history, identity, image-making, marginalisation, migration, photography, place, portraiture, poverty, power, race, resilience, value, video and youth culture.
The resources have been designed in collaboration with BA Curating students at Goldsmiths University for KS3 / KS4 learners and can be adapted for other age groups.
