SERAFINE1369 will present a durational performance outside the entrance to the CCA on the penultimate Sunday of Testament. Centred on and around their rock sculpture for the exhibition, the work will be thinking about how environments form bodies and bodies form environments (the bodies of objects, humans, planets…) and the ‘becoming monument’ that can happen in this process. This is as much a work of witness as performance. SERAFINE1369 will respond to the incidental narratives that emerge over the course of two hours, questioning how presence operates.

BIOGRAPHY

SERAFINE1369 (previously Last Yearz Interesting Negro) is the London-based artist, dancer, writer and facilitator Jamila Johnson-Small. SERAFINE1369 works with dancing as a philosophical undertaking, a political project with ethical psycho-spiritual ramifications for being-in-the-world; dancing as intimate technology. This work brings an urgency around understandings of, and sensitivity to, connection, distinction, relation and context, SERAFINE1369’s approach is experiential, embodied and structural.
